Parking permit application
Cost of peak permit: £1,462.80 (incl. VAT) for 12 months
Please discuss your requirement for a parking permit with the BioEscalator Business Manager (claire.shingler@medsci.ox.ac.uk), who will be able to advise on availability. Once you have confirmation that a permit is available, follow the steps below. Companies are allocated one permit per lab occupied, and, in addition, there may be a small pool of permits available for purchase on a needs basis.
1. Visit https://travel.admin.ox.ac.uk/request-car-parking-permit-login and register for a Planon account (if you don't already have one).
a. For Department, select "Other – please add to field below" and insert your company name in the free text 'Other' field.
b. For building, select "Other – please add in field below" and insert BioEscalator in the free text 'Other' field
2. You will receive an e-mail from Planon Sys Admin containing your username and password and a link to the site for applying for your permit (https://travel.admin.ox.ac.uk/car/permits)
3. Once on https://travel.admin.ox.ac.uk/car/permits, scroll down to view the parking permit types. Tenants have two choices:
Peak Permits (PP):
Holders have the right to hunt for a space on fixed days of the week and hunt for a space on days not covered by the Peak Permit for an extra charge, which also includes parking during off-peak times*
Expires on 31 October 2023
Off-Peak Parking Permits:
Buy the right to hunt for a space. Valid between 4.00 pm and 7.00 am on weekdays and all day Saturday, Sunday and University fixed closure days.
4. Click on the Application forms tab and select the permit you would like to apply for. Make sure you apply for the Old Road Campus permit.
5. Sign in to Planon.
6. For Peak Permits:
a. Open a separate tab, visit the online shop by clicking here to visit the peak permit payment page.
b. Enter the pro rata annual amount (£121.90 incl. VAT x number of months (whole or part) remaining until 31 October 2023. If your permit is to start on 1 November 2022, the cost is £1,462.80 incl. VAT)
c. Checkout
d. Return to Planon
e. Choose ORC Peak Permit 22/23' from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page, then click the grey button 'Click here to order a Peak Permit.'
f. Complete Part A of the form, selecting 'Yes' for 'I have made a secure payment via the online shop because I am not on the University payroll'. In the Car Parking Permit Administrator field, enter Shingler, Claire.
g. Complete Part B (Vehicle details) with details of up to 4 vehicle registration numbers. This provides a means of sharing one permit between up to 4 individuals who will be parking at different times. The permit must be displayed in the vehicle windscreen once in the parking bay. If you use a Zipcar (or equivalent), enter 'This is a hire car with variable VRN.'
h. Complete Part C (Demonstration of need for a parking permit) with your postcode. In the section 'Enter 1 for the periods you require, enter one into every field (unless agreed otherwise with the Business Manager)
i. Upload a copy of the e-mail confirmation for the online shop payment.
7. For Off-peak Permits:
a. Open a separate tab, and visit the online shop by clicking here for the off-peak permit payment page.
Part A: Applicant details; your name, department and building will be filled in automatically. Choose 'yes' for I would like my permit to be delivered to the Building/ Department listed above. Fill in the Date you would like permit to start; the permit will be available for a year after the start date.
b. Complete Part B: Vehicle details; you can enter up to 4 vehicle registration numbers and add (E) after the registration number if your vehicle is electric.
c. For payment, write 'N/A' for Employee Number and select 'No' for I consent to a one-off salary deduction of £40 (non-refundable).
d. Pay via the online store, as instructed in the e-mail you receive.
8. Once your application has been approved, your permit will be delivered to the BioEscalator. You will be notified by reception when it is ready to collect.
Note: if you are applying for more than one permit, you must apply for each.
